Just kidding, well sort of. I do what to know what class you think is most powerful, but not in gameplay: in the lore. In gameplay, I know there's lots of debates, but I haven't heard this debate so far as the story goes.
So here's the question: in terms of potential power, which class do you think has the potential to be the strongest.
Now, right off-hand, unless someone makes a great argument, I'm going to have to discount warriors, rogues, and hunters. Now, I know in gameplay these classes are very good, but even the most finely tuned warrior is still just a physical form. Does that really compare to the sheer supernatural power of mage?
All the supreme baddies and many goodies seem to be magic based. You don't have some supergod guy who does all his influence by hitting things really hard, they use supernatural abilities.
So to me, you have to go with the magic classes for the most potential power. First, I'm going to discount druids. While druids do deal with magic, their magic seems sort of limited in scope to the world of Azeroth, and in the lore, many classes can far surpass that. Their magic is limited to nature and life on Azeroth.
Second class would be priests/paladins. Their magic has to do with the holy light. Now, this seems like its pretty powerful. The light is the opposing force against the legion. However, it doesn't seem to be 'the' force in the universe. Their magic seems to come from the Naaru, who are not *that* powerful, and unable to combat the legion on their own. Priests/paladins are up there.
Next would be shamans. Their magic has to do with elements. In the warcraft universe, lots of things are divided up into elemental spheres. There's an elemental plain, and some of the more powerful actors in history were shamans, (gul'dan, Ner'zhul, possibly Velen) but this may have simply because they were orcs and that's what orcs do. When they were really powerful they were...
Warlocks. Warlocks use the dark energy of the demons, and we all know how powerful the burning legion is. The MOST powerful creatures so far in the game are warlocks like Kil'jaeden and Ner'zhul. What keeps me from saying these are easily the strongest though is that warlock magic is dependant on demons. It's not the fabric of the universe, it's some sort of version enfluenced by whatever powers demons.
So this leads me to mages. mages use 'magic'. Where does this magic come from? Is this the underlying energies of the universe once you strip away all the other sources? Or is this simply the energy used from the well of eternity? 'magic' being the general term of anything supernatural seems like it is the all-encompassing energy behind the universe, and so that says to me that mages would have the highest overall potential in lore for being powerful, godlike beings.
What do you think? What class do you think would have the most potential for power?
